The flourishing rustic scenery of Kozova, a small town in Western Ukraine, reveals scant surviving evidence of its historic Jewish cemetery.
Buried in Kozova are several generations of the Rottenberg family who served as rabbis and Chassidic masters of this town. The first of these was Reb Yhosef (-1842), who was a son in law and a disciple of Reb Tzvi Hersh of Zidichoiv. Reb Yhosef’s descendants served as rabbis of Kozova up until the World War II.
ESJF and Geder Avos recently began a restoration project that is expected to be complete in the fall of 2018.
